Wednesdays at West Side
WEDNESDAYS AT WEST SIDE ADULT CLASSES
West Side Church offers classes open to all adults that cover a variety of topics important to us as we follow Jesus with our lives. These classes are currently taught by our Pastors and are available on Wednesday evenings during our Wednesdays at West Side from 6 – 7:15 pm September through the end of March.
REGISTRATION OPENS AUGUST 24, 2023
NEXT CLASSES BEGIN SEPTEMBER 13, 2023
ALL CLASSES MEET WEDNESDAYS FROM 6:00 TO 7:15 PM
Taught by Rick Harpel
Oct. 4 – Nov. 15
This class is for people of every stage of faith and involvement at West Side who need a clear understanding of our identity and history as a Christian Church. We are going to cover 2000 years of church history in 7 weeks. Yikes! Obviously, the point is not to just go over all the names and dates. Instead, we will highlight the most relevant events, movements, and people that have led us to West Side Church in 2023.
- We want to know who we are and how we got here.
- We also want to know our mission field and how the people around us got to their current faith status.
- We want to learn how to best represent Jesus Christ and his Word in our world today.
Emotionally Healthy Relationships
Taught by Elias Garcia
Sept. 27 – Nov. 15
Pete and Geri Scazzero developed the Emotionally Healthy (EH) Relationships Course over a 21-year period to directly address core biblical principles to guide you and others into an experience of discipleship that will deeply change your life. In the EH Relationships Course, everyone will learn 8 practical relationship skills to develop mature, loving relationships with others such as:
- Stop Mind Reading and Clarify Expectations
- Incarnational Listening
- Climb the Ladder of Integrity
- Clean Fighting
And since loving others and loving God cannot be separated, each person will also grow in their personal, first-hand relationship with Jesus by incorporating stillness, silence, and Scripture as daily life rhythms.
Financial Peace University
Taught by James Porter/Steve Wolcott
Sept. 13 – Nov. 8
“If you’ve ever felt like you just can’t get in control of your money, you’re not alone. You’d be surprised how many people you know are struggling just like you. But it’s time for your struggle to end—starting today.”
We meet weekly at ‘Wednesdays at West Side’ beginning September 13th – November 8th from 6:00-7:15pm. Every week you will watch a video at home and then come to class having watched this ahead of time. Once in class we will watch a recap video to refresh our minds for discussion around each financial topic.
The class costs $79.99 for the materials that will help you learn how you can pay off debt fast, to save more money, and to have a greater understanding and grasp of your finances.
Biblical Studies for Women
Abide by Jen Wilkins
Sept. 13 – Nov. 15
Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you.
1 John 2:24
How can we hold onto assurance of our faith? How can we discern the truth from a lie? How can we know God loves us? In these three short letters, the apostle John reminds an early church facing division, deception, and doubt to hold fast to what they know and to live like they believe it. And he reminds us, as well. In this 10-session Bible study on the letters of 1, 2, and 3, John, Jen Wilkin helps you see how two thousand years later, his words call to Christians in similar challenges to recall a great salvation and to abide in the truth.
